Was this a really awful thing to tell my friend?

Recently a friend of mine started going out with a guy much older than her (she's 21 and he's 46). She's really pretty and to put it plainly he's really rich with no personality. He's buying her cocaine, nice clothes (Chanel, Dolce Jimmy Choos etc) paying for her rented flat and giving her money. I basically said "this might not last forever so get something sensible like a house out of this guy so if it all falls flat on it's face, you have something other than some of last seasons clothes". She got offended, and said that it wasn't like that. She might think it's like that, but I can kind of see that it is (they met while she was working as a stripper). I wasn't trying to be offensive, I just don't want her to feel used and have nothing in a year. Was that wrong of me to say?
