Break in leather on Molten GE7?

I got this molten ge7 a year ago and I haven't played with it for a while, but its really slick and hard to grip on the outside and many people say that you have to break in the leather to get that good feel. Is this true with all ge7s or did I just get some crap one that was a waste of money?
