Name of old book(60's or earlier)with squirrels sitting on stump?
I think I know the book that you are wondering about because I just bought a hard covered copy of it at a thrift store for $4.00. I too remember the book from years ago. It was read to me as a small child during the early 1960s. The title is "Hazel Squirrel" from a series by Whitman called Famous Animal Stories. Famous refers to the writer's name - Howard B. Famous. The copy I have is in lovely shape and was printed in 1917. It has great illustrations - hand drawn of course, and in black and white. It was given to someone named Ronnie by his dad for Christmas in 1917. I just bought about a week ago and have not read it yet. The picture that you are wondering about is probably the one on the cover where a squirrel - presumably Hazel - is sitting on a branch looking up at a little peaked roof red house.
