Say a story is REALLY cliche, do you even bother trying to read it?

What I mean is that if a story has a really cliche main plot, do you bother to at least try it? Or do you just dump it? Because a huge idea in my story (going to another world) is waaaaaay too cliche for some people's liking. But I'm afraid when and IF I get it published the other world thing will be a turn-off. I mean I try to see if the writing/back plots are good and original (which I think mine are) and then judge if I should continue but maybe I'm unique. I bet that was REALLY confusing...if it was just answer the question the way you think it should be answered.
